48 hours without money in a foreign country - Part 1

What a crazy idea - 48 hours in a foreign country where I don't speak the language...without any money.

I had been planning it since three weeks, at the beginning very confident, full of optimism, plans and ideas. A couple of days before my departure suddenly there was scepticism, a kind of fright, I became rather nervous. Several times a day I caught myself thinking: Where might you be on Tuesday at this time?  Will you end up sleeping in the park? - At this time I always switched my thoughts into another direction. Meditation-proof as I am that worked immediately.

This morning suddenly all kind of uncertainty had left and when my husband drove me to the airport I felt happy and light, looking forward to the things coming.
I took a flight from Cologne to Copenhagen - foreign country, foreign language end even a foreign currency.

On the plane I was seated next to a lady who reminded me extremely of a good friend of mine and we immediately started talking: She was German and lived in Copenhagen since 2 years. She found my plan was quite courageous.  - Which I did, too.

She told me a lot about the Danish way of life, gave me many, many precious facts and hints and told me to contact her if anything was going wrong on my trip. Then she offered me a train ticket to the city, where we said good-bye. But not, before she had given me the contact to a friend of hers who works for the German embassy. I was so thankful about her caring. She answered, she just wanted to make sure I had a good start into my adventure. Thank you so much, dear K.!!

Copenhagen is beautiful. A salty wind coming from the sea, a super-blue sky spotted with single white little clouds - a day out of a dream.
But where to stay the night? It was already round 4pm, when I arrived. -  I watched out for hotels, went in and talked to several managers, asking a room in exchange of work. I offered health-coachings for their guests or/and staff, wellness treatments and meditation-sessions.

Guess what -  Most of the managers were really delighted about my project and two would have agreed - if they not had been booked out. One of them even let me have a look into his computer to prove he was telling the truth, imagine!
Every single of these conversations was positive. Everybody offered me to have a rest, to use the internet and the computers for free, one gave me apples to have enough vitamins for my journey and gave me addresses of hotels with alternative concepts, who might be interested in my project.
What I not had expected: Copenhagen is full of tourists now, nearly every hotel is booked out.
Nonetheless I am sure if I had arrived earlier this day, my plan would have had worked.

I started to ask people on the street if they knew B&B's, hotels or somebody who offered couchsurfing.  Everybody was immense helpful, no one ever said he was in a hurry. People searched the internet for me, jotted down addresses and gave me indications to find the right way. When I told them about my project, they all looked startled in the first moment and then the expression switched to delight. I earned a lot of good wishes during the evening and made even new friends.

I wanted to check one last hostel, uncertain about what would happen if they said no to my proposal. Meanwhile I was tired. I only knew the name of the street, where the hostel was located and asked a middle aged couple for the right way. They were absolutely friendly and immediately searched on google maps for the address I had indicated, while the three of us started talking. They came from Iowa and were on a holiday trip. They wanted to know what I was up to in Copenhagen. Work? Holiday? Meet relatives? I told them about my plan, my experiences and  my work.
We exchanged our names and promised to connect in social networks to let them know how my adventure was going on. Miracle: The wife's name was Nina.
When I wanted to know what they did for a living, the answer came quickly: "We care for health-coaches who are on a trip in Copenhagen!" and they donated me 40$. I was absolutely speechless (which means a lot :)

Then David asked me if I would want a blessing. Of course I wanted. And in wonderful words, filled with love, light and kindness he blessed me and my live. Now, hours after our meeting, I still feel the vibration of this overwhelming experience.

The youth hostel was nearly full and Lucia was visibly sorry that the hostel-rules did not allow to let a bed without money. She invited me to use the hostels' facilities even if I didn't check in.
But I checked in: The price for a place in a bedroom for 8 persons was....40$!!! (To be absolutely honest: 38 and something $)
When Lucia gave me the key she also slipped me a voucher for breakfast by saying, she simply loved my project.
Now I am really tired and looking forward to a decent rest and sweet dreams.

Sommergrüße

Lauer Sommerwind
 vertreibt die Wolken. Was bleibt,
 ist blaue Klarheit. Stephan Dreyer

Nina
